The best luxury travel gifts seamlessly combine practicality with style. It is one of my favourite things to shop for and when buying for others, I love to look for personalised travel gifts to make it that little bit extra special.

I thought these were a bit unnecessary until my brand new passport got water all over it, the second time I have managed to do that to one. Luckily it wasn’t so bad that I needed replacing (unlike my first one that led to an emergency trip to the British embassy in Costa Rica).
So for the epitome of practical and pretty (my favourite combo) personalised travel gifts, it has to be Smythson. They do the most luxurious, classic and understated leather travel accessories that really do stand the test of time and any luxury travel lover will be thrilled with. The Panama Passport Holder is the most practical in my opinion, with additional spaces for up to four credit cards and a press snap closure to prevent anything falling out.
You can go classic in colours such as black, navy or mahogany, or jazz it up with a scarlet, mustard yellow or pink choice. Personalisation is an added extra, but there are lots of customisation options, including adding a motif above your initials. It has to be the plane one for me…

Of all the travel wallets I have had and seen over the years, nothing comes close to the Aspinal Classic Travel Wallet. The purse I carry around at home is alarmingly heavy and has a gazillion cards, receipts and dry cleaning tickets that would just be an absolute pain in the behind to replace if I ever lost it (luckily, this hasn’t happened yet, TOUCH WOOD). That, along with my desire to try and reduce the weight of my ever heavy carry-on bag when I travel, led me to the purchase of a “travel purse”.

Custom Longchamp Le Pliage Tote Bag
The Longchamp totes will always remind me of travelling as they are so incredibly versatile and as such, always make it into my suitcase no matter the destination. They are made from a nylon material that makes them water resistant and machine washable, come in every colour combination and size imaginable and have different handle length options dependant on whether you want to carry it over your shoulder or not.
They also fold up into virtually nothing, so the big ones are great to pack on shopping trips in case you may need an additional bag to check on your way home (me every time I go to New York). I also pack a small one to act as both my handbag and beach bag as my carry on is the size of a small house. If there is a better bag for travel, I have yet to find it.
I am not alone in this view and as such this bag has been incredibly popular for many years now and I expect that to continue. Out of everything on this list, luggage tags are most definitely an essential travel item. Getting them from Smythson is probably not, but they really are beautiful and an excellent gift for any luxury travel lover.
